Immobilize moving systems

Use the manufacturer’s carriage lock when present, but do not assume it is sufficient. Protect carriage ends and knobs from side impacts without applying destructive pressure.

Protect the machine inside the case

If a case is included, secure the machine to its base as designed and cushion internal movement. Then wrap the closed case independently. Do not let case latches carry the shipment.

Double-box

Place the protected machine or case inside a strong inner box with dense cushioning, then into a larger outer box with additional impact space. Heavy standards require especially robust materials.

Document packing

Photograph the machine before packing, each packing layer, the closed boxes, and the label. Insurance claims are easier when condition and method are documented.
