Typewriter Cases and Accessories

The correct case adds protection and completeness, but it must match the machine and remain structurally sound.

Check case fit

A case should align with the machine’s mounting points and close without pressure on knobs or carriage parts. A similar-looking case may belong to another generation.

Inspect latches and handle

Dried leather, brittle plastic, loose rivets, and weak latches can fail suddenly. Carry a newly acquired machine from beneath until the case has been inspected.

Manuals and tools

An original manual can identify controls and transport locks. Brushes, erasers, oil bottles, covers, and dealer documents can add context, but should not substitute for machine condition.

Electric accessories

IBM type elements, correction supplies, carbon ribbons, and model-specific consumables deserve separate verification for compatibility.
