Cleaning the segment, correcting adjustment, replacing a drawband, refreshing rubber, and installing ribbon are functional interventions. Repainting the shell and replacing decals changes the object’s visible originality.
Preserve documentation
Photograph every surface, serial, decal, and flaw before work. Save removed parts and record replacements.
Disclose changes
A restored machine can be beautiful and useful. It should simply be described honestly, especially when a new color resembles a scarce factory finish.
